ART KINTSUGI WORKSHOP - with Sensei Yoko Kawada 24 FEB 2024, 10:30am - 2:30pm

$165.00
'Kintsugi' is a centuries-old Japanese art of repairing broken ceramic objects using lacquer and gold dust, based on the philosophy of 'Wabi Sabi' - finding beauty in imperfection - and giving a new life to items that would otherwise be thrown away...
  • Description

This introductory class will focus on 'Modern Kintsugi' - which follows the principles of ancient Kintsugi but utilises accessible, modern materials to enable the entire process to be finished within the 3-4 hour class time - so that at the end of the class, each participant will have their very own piece of individually crafted Kintsugi art!

In recent years, this traditional craft has come to be regarded as an important influence on Modern art, as well as being recognised for its therapeutic benefits.  Absorbing yourself in art for a few hours is an enjoyable way to achieve a moment of calmness in our often crazily busy modern lives...!

Once a ticket is purchased, Sensei Yoko will prepare all materials needed for the Art Kintsugi class - including one small (broken) MIJ plate for every participant.
